This years most notable nobel prize

Goes to Albert Fert and Peter Grünberg for the discovery of "giant magnetoresistance", the area of course: Physics.
This will in time lead to great improvements of magnetically based storage devices such as hard drives.
The scientists also predict the development of MRAM technology (Magnetic RAM) , wich eventually will lead to crash-proof, instant booting computers.
When I heard the news of this my inner nerd went haywire. This is surely a milestone in computer science.

The portfolio is ALIVE

After a brief discussion with a colleague about PHP I finally went to work on my portfolio. Since all the images where collected, I needed to figure out a way so that I could update my homepage without breaking a sweat each time (yes I'm that lazy when it comes to updating my portfolio).
The problem is that each time i uploaded a photo i had to edit the category-xml file. Which is totally boring and time consuming.

So i wrote a little serverside script that did all this for me. It even generates all the thumbnails. So that leaves more time to work on the important content, but if I know myself right I'll use that time to google myself.

Major site release this monday. Been literally working my ass off on this one. The project extended from April all through September. The site is up and running and looking good.

Using MSU Image Restoration

Is a plugin for Photoshop CS2 and greater developed by the Moscow State University - Graphics & Media Lab Video Group.
They also develop very useful video codecs and filters for VirtualDub.

This filter will save you some time if you want to remove something from a still image. It's not that perfect but acceptably fast (if you keep the settings down).

Make a quick mask around the thing you want to remove from the image and apply the filter. Here is what I did in less than 30 seconds.

Case: Spelaspel.nu redesign

About a year ago, our company started pondering the idea of developing a free flash game site. 6 months ago it was finished, but lacked a vital visual finish. About a month ago i took on the job of redesigning the earlier quite retro site to a rounder more modern feel. If this change has some kind of impact on the usage of the site is yet to see, since it's really hard to measure the impacts of Visual improvements.
